I neglected my studies, and was not interested in school whatsoever. Since our house was severely damaged from the ongoing bombing, I began to look for work in order to support my family and our home. I almost forgot that I was a student, until I had a conversation with my high school teacher that changed everything. He was aware of my circumstances, but was still a bit harsh with his words. Nonetheless, did you know that harshness comes from love? Harshness comes from someone who sees a hero in you that is ready to come out. Harshness comes from someone who sees potential in you that is ready to emerge. His harshness lit a torch inside me that changed me for the better.
I only had a couple of weeks left before the Tawjihi examination and I began studying day and night. I isolated myself from my family and friends, I was mentally exhausted, but I knew I had to make this change for myself. Despite my hard work my GPA was still not enough for me to enter Dentistry. I didn’t give up, I repeated Tawjihi in order to get the results I wanted and needed, and I succeeded. Not only did my dedication and hard work give me the results needed to enter Dentistry, but it also gave me a full scholarship from Reach Education Fund that gave me the opportunity to continue following my dream.
